Ebrahim Raisi President of Iran.

Ebrahim Raisi, born on December 14, 1960, in Mashhad, Iran, was a prominent Iranian politician and cleric who served as the country's president from 2021 until his death in 2024. Known for his hardline stances, Raisi's career spanned several significant judicial and political roles. He earned the moniker "Butcher of Tehran" for his involvement in the 1988 mass executions of political prisoners, a period during which he was part of a death committee responsible for the summary executions of Iran.

Raisi's ascent in Iranian politics saw him hold various key positions, including Prosecutor of Tehran, Deputy Chief Justice, and Attorney General. In 2019, he was appointed Chief Justice of Iran, further cementing his influence within the country's conservative establishment .
His presidency, starting in 2021, was marked by heightened tensions with the West, particularly over Iran's nuclear program, and significant internal unrest following the death of Mahsa Amini in 2022, which sparked widespread protests.

Raisi's tenure ended abruptly when he died in a helicopter crash on May 19, 2024, an incident that also claimed the life of Iran's foreign minister. His death occurred during a period of high regional tensions and left a significant impact on Iranian politics, where he was seen as a potential successor to Supreme Leader of Iran.
